About

What if everything we need to thrive can be found on Earth?

Have you heard the expression, "When grocery shopping, shop on the perimeter of the grocery store"? This is because the most nutrient dense and whole foods can be found in the fresh produce, meat, dairy and grain sections in the store. Processed and preserved foods (foods created in factories) are often found on shelves in the inner aisles. Similarly, the most effective beauty products do not have to be found in expensive creams and serums. Nature's raw ingredients are the most healing; from raw aloe vera gel to cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil to papaya to organic raw black soap from West Africa. These have been some of the most potent beauty hacks that the billion-dollar beauty industry does not want us to know. I am no longer tempted spend my hard earned dollars on products.

Invest now so you don't have to pay later

Food is expensive. Supplements are expensive. With the cost of living rising at a rapid rate in the post-COVID-19 era, it is tempting to consume processed foods and  pre-packaged foods. It is also easy to live a sedentary lifestyle with so many streaming options to binge watch your favorite TV series. Would you rather pay a little more money now or a lot later on with both time, money and energy? There is a cost to everything. Figure out those costs and what trade offs you are willing to make to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Or...calculate the costs of living with illness and disease in the future.

Food as Medicine

My home economics class (do they teach this anymore?) in 1996 showed us two photos of dinner plates; one with a baked potato, chicken breast and cauliflower and another with broccoli, chicken breast and salad. We were asked, " which plate looks more appealing to you?" The colorful one! That is when I learned that colorful foods were more appealing to the appetite but it took me decades to understand the nutritional value in 'Eating the rainbow'. Each color in your fruits and vegetables provide your specific amino acides, antioxidant properties, vitamins and minerals.
